Human Biofields

The effects of energy fields around, and within, us
Biofields are electromagnetic and other types of energy fields that surround, and are generated by, living organisms. While these energy fields are well known and methods, like Reiki, to heal issues caused by energy imbalances have been around for centuries it has not been a topic routinely discussed within the mainstream medical community.
Biofield research within western medicine has been documented as early as the 1930s, when a professor at Yale Medical School studied the connection between the human body and surrounding energy fields. Research into bone growth and healing after a fracture, or break in a bone, has identified the benefits of using low frequency electrical current for tissue growth and healing. And the electromagnetic activity that occurs within the brain and the heart are well documented. Basically, biofields affect the function of organisms down to the cellular level.
Research also indicates that energy from the solar system all the way down to the electromagnetic activity of the heart can affect other surrounding biofields.
Solar/Geomagnetic Activity
Schumann Resonance
The Human Heart
Studies show solar and geomagnetic activity can have physical effects, like changes in blood pressure and heart rate.
Alpha and theta brain waves mirror the energetic frequency of the Schumann Resonance, the Earth’s naturally occurring atmospheric energy field.
Using ECG and EEG (monitors that show heart and brain rhythms), a study showed a person’s heart rhythm could synchronize with the alpha brain waves of another person up to 5 feet away.
Artificial energy fields have also been studied, with some research suggesting that these artificial fields could disrupt our body’s natural rhythms causing harmful effects.
Bottom line, we are energetic beings living in an energetic world. While we may have adapted to low frequency natural energy fields, like the Schumann Resonance, fluctuations from various types of energy fields impact our biofields and can affect our overall health and wellbeing. Understanding we live in this energetic web of connection can help us as we make decisions about our health and look for practices that can keep us balanced in this ever-changing energetic world.
“...there is substantive scientific literature demonstrating that physiological regulatory systems in humans and animals are also affected by and even synchronized to environmentally generated fields, eg, of geomagnetic and solar origin.”
